About Me

Hello! My name is Korbyn Averett and I am an aspiring architect with a passion for designing spaces that heal and inspire. Set to graduate in May with a Masters of Architecture, I’ve focused my studies on healthcare architecture, combining my commitment to thoughtful design with a desire to positively impact lives.

During my time as the AIAS President of the University of Idaho chapter (2023-2024), I had the privilege of fostering a collaborative and dynamic architectural community, sharpening both my leadership and teamwork skills.

My graduate project explores the intersection of design and well-being, specifically addressing parental mental health in pediatric oncology settings. By incorporating positive distraction into architectural design, I aim to create environments that help families navigate their "new normal" with greater resilience and comfort.

A hands-on background in construction and demolition has shaped my understanding of the built environment. Working on job sites pouring concrete and removing hazardous materials like asbestos, mold, lead, and mercury has given me a deep appreciation for the practical aspects of construction and the importance of creating safe, healthy spaces.
